Is there an Ekiden airdrop?
Ekiden hasn't confirmed one. Its docs never mention a token, and the closest it has come is a Telegram post on 9 September 2026: "Earn XP through your activity on Mainnet and build your position for the Ekiden community token allocation." The post gives no ticker, date, share or rate.
So far XP has one confirmed use: "XP already has its first confirmed Mainnet utility: it will be used to determine the initial whitelist, with the first access wave including the final Top 100 Testnet participants." An older roadmap from October 2025 planned an EKI token for March or April 2026. That date has passed without a token.
Warning XP grows with the trading fees you pay, so farming it means trading more, often with leverage. No reward for that XP has been promised.
What Ekiden is
Ekiden's docs say: "Ekiden is infrastructure for tokenized derivative markets on Canton Network. It provides an orderbook-based venue for perpetual futures, combining off-chain matching with deferred on-chain settlement." Older descriptions place it on Aptos, but in May 2026 Ekiden posted: "We are launching on @CantonNetwork, enabling us to deliver immediate value to existing players in the ecosystem rather than building in isolation."
A closed mainnet opened on 8 September 2026 and is still invite-only. It's small: on 18 October the public stats page showed $7.25 million of trading since launch and 96 active traders. You can trade BTC, ETH, HYPE, CC, gold and silver.
How Ekiden XP works
Most XP comes from fees: 10 XP for every $1 of taker fees and 5 XP for every $1 of maker activity, counted at the taker rate. The docs put it plainly: "Trading XP is proportional to fees, not raw trading volume." Holding a position earns up to 1 XP per $1,000 per hour, and quests pay fixed amounts. Gold and silver earn double XP while mainnet is closed.
Referrals add 15%, 10% and 5% of the XP earned by three levels of people below you, plus a share of their fees: "Affiliate commissions are tracked and paid in USDCx." Testnet traders start ahead: "Your Testnet XP carries forward as a multiplier, giving active Testnet traders a head start on Mainnet." No end date for the XP program has been published.
Ekiden airdrop step-by-step guide
There's no confirmed airdrop. These steps get you trading and earning XP.
- Get an access code. Codes have come from the testnet leaderboard, contests on X and quest campaigns on partner sites. Traders also earn them: "Each $1,000 in trading volume unlocks one Mainnet invite code, up to 50 codes." A referral link alone won't let you in: "Your referral link and Mainnet invite codes serve different purposes."
- Open app.ekiden.fi, press Connect and sign in with Google or a Canton Console Wallet. Ekiden says: "Google is the fastest option for a new account. Your Party ID is provisioned during the sign-in flow; no browser extension is required."
- Enter your code and accept the terms, including the box that reads "I acknowledge that I am trading with real money".
- Fund your account: "In the app, open Deposit/Withdraw and select EVM to Canton Bridge." You'll need ETH for gas, and the deposit arrives as USDCx.
Warning Check the Canton recipient before you send. The docs say: "Transactions sent to a different recipient cannot be reassigned automatically."
- Move margin into your trading account and trade. XP shows on the Portfolio page and the leaderboard.
Warning Leverage goes up to 20x, and a bad move can wipe out your margin. On 6 October 2026 a faulty update applied funding wrongly and liquidated some accounts.

Ekiden costs and fees
Taking part costs money: XP comes only from trading, and every trade pays a fee. While mainnet is closed, "we lower the fees, making them as low as 0.01% for the maker, 0.0350% for the taker, which corresponds to the standard $10M+ tier." The normal schedule starts at 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker. Ekiden's September recap says "deposits and withdrawals moved to a flat 1 USDC." It also covers Canton's network fee for now: "This is a limited-time benefit exclusive to closed mainnet participants."
Ekiden risks and eligibility
- There are no full terms of use, no privacy policy and no list of excluded countries. The app blocks some locations, including sanctioned ones, without naming them.
- The only terms text sits in the sign-in window: "This Interface and the Ekiden Protocol are made available by the Ekiden Holding Foundation". It doesn't say where that foundation is.
- After the 6 October bug Ekiden wrote: "We are reviewing all affected accounts and will compensate users for losses directly caused by the incident." We found no notice that the payments were made.
- New users were pushed to act fast: "If you receive an access code, activate it within 24 hours and complete the required deposit to secure your spot." The size of that deposit wasn't stated.
- The docs promise "Self-custody", but they don't explain who holds the keys for accounts made with Google sign-in.
- Impersonators are active: "We've noticed fake accounts and impersonators pretending to represent Ekiden across social platforms and private messages." Use only ekiden.fi and its official X and Telegram.
- Ekiden says PixelPlex audited its contracts, but no report has been published.
Who is behind Ekiden?
The only named person is Vitali Dervoed, its founder and chief executive. Yellow reported that "Dervoed's background spans capital markets and roles tied to Neon EVM, RockawayX and Mango Markets." In May 2026, according to Yellow, "Ekiden has closed a $2 million seed round to develop trading infrastructure aimed at professional and algorithmic participants in on-chain derivatives." It added: "The round drew backing from GSR, Flowdesk, Pyth, Aptos, Monolith, Hardcore Labs, Moonhill Capital and Curiosity Capital. Keyrock joined as a strategic partner." Ekiden's X and GitHub profiles say Japan, while a paid press release was datelined Lisbon.
