Is there a Base airdrop?
No. Base has no token, and network fees are paid in ETH. On 15 September 2025, at its BaseCamp event, Base creator Jesse Pollak said the team would start exploring a network token. Coinbase had said in 2023 that it had no plans for one. "It's early," Pollak said, according to CoinDesk, which also reported that any token would be built on Ethereum and that Base would work with regulators on issuance and distribution. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said there were no definitive plans, The Block reported.
Little has been added since. The Block reported in October 2025 that Coinbase was hiring a token and governance research specialist for Base, and in February 2026 Decrypt still described the token as something Base was exploring. As of 1 October 2026 we found no token, snapshot date or eligibility criteria in Base's docs or engineering blog.
How Base ecosystem airdrops work
Base has published no criteria, so any checklist of tasks for a Base token is guesswork. What it has shipped is tooling for other apps' drops. Base Verify lets an app confirm that a user owns a real X, Instagram, TikTok or Coinbase account, so one person claims once however many wallets they hold. Base's blog names one app that limits its airdrops to Coinbase One members.
Rewards on offer today come from apps on Base. Megapot gives points for lottery tickets, referrals and backing its prize pool. Limitless, a prediction market, runs a points program for trading. Ethos went another way: its WHUF whitepaper allocates nothing to an airdrop, sells 20% of supply at auction and pays ongoing rewards to users who vouch tokens.
How to qualify for Base airdrops: step by step
- Ignore any site or message offering a Base token claim. No Base token exists.
- To use Base, move ETH or USDC over from a Coinbase account or Ethereum. Base's docs list the supported bridges, and you need ETH for gas.
- Read each app's points page before you spend money, and note whether it already has a token.
- Use one wallet, and link a real account where an app asks for Base Verify. Extra wallets don't help when a drop counts each person once.
Base airdrop risks
- There may never be a Base token. Base has committed only to exploring one.
- A token, if it comes, may not be distributed by airdrop. Ethos, a Base app, chose an auction.
- Base says it will work with regulators on distribution and has not said who would be eligible.
- Megapot is a lottery, and its docs say about 77.5% of ticket money comes back as prizes.
