Is there a MetaMask airdrop?
None confirmed, and there is no MetaMask token. MetaMask's support page says: "At this time, there are no plans for a $MASK token." The same page says: "At this time, Season 1 has ended, and there are no concrete plans for future seasons." So there is no running points season to farm for a token.
What you can do today is enter a campaign inside MetaMask Rewards. The live one is the MetaMask Perps Competition, announced on 29 October 2026: "compete for your share of up to $100,000 in mUSD". It is a trading contest, not an airdrop, and only 30 people get paid.
Old signals still circulate. A press release from October 2025 carried the line "confirms token launch", and the Rewards page still lists "Future token allocations". The support page is the newer statement, and it says "at this time", so it is not a permanent no. In September 2026 Fortune reported Joseph Lubin's view that "fewer firms are inclined to issue their own cryptocurrencies".
Warning Since no MetaMask token exists, any site offering a MASK claim is one to avoid. MetaMask's terms say: "we will never ask you for your private key or secret recovery phrase". Anyone who asks for yours is trying to empty your wallet.
What MetaMask is
MetaMask is a self-custodial crypto wallet, available as a browser extension and a mobile app. It now also offers swaps, perps through Hyperliquid, prediction markets, tokenized stocks and its own mUSD stablecoin. It reports "more than 100 million downloads across approximately 190 countries".
MetaMask Rewards is "MetaMask's official loyalty program". It lives in the mobile app. Its page sums it up as: "Compete in trading challenges, claim airdrops, and access exclusive benefits". That line doesn't mean a MetaMask token.
How MetaMask Rewards works
Season 1 ran from 28 October 2025 to 23 January 2026 and paid "Over $30M USD in $LINEA token allocations", split by points. The LINEA claim opened on 24 February 2026 and has closed. Points from that season earn nothing today that we could find.
Now the program "primarily runs through campaigns". MetaMask relaunched it in May 2026 with timed contests, each with its own rules, prizes and regions. Past ones include the Ondo Global Markets Challenge, which ended on 18 June 2026, even though the Rewards page text still calls it "live now".
The rules of the current contest, from MetaMask's X post: "Top 30 by realized PnL win, and 1st place takes the biggest share." You opt in, then "trade perps (mobile or extension) through Nov 12, and hit $10K minimum volume to qualify". The Rewards page adds: "The Perps Trading Competition is back with double the prize pool." The first round in June offered up to $50,000.
Two other parts run alongside the contests. The Earn rewards list gives "3% money back on MetaMask Metal Card, and a 3% bonus for converting stablecoins into mUSD". The Benefits tab shows one-time partner offers based on what your wallet holds.
MetaMask airdrop step-by-step guide
No MetaMask airdrop is confirmed. These steps enter the Rewards program and the current contest.
- Check your region. Rewards is "currently unavailable in the United Kingdom", and Perps excludes more places (listed below).
- Install MetaMask only through metamask.com, then open the mobile app.
Warning Fake wallet apps exist to steal seed phrases. Don't follow install links from social posts or ads.
- Open the Rewards tab and opt in. MetaMask says: "You will need to opt-in to the MetaMask Rewards program, and then opt-in to individual campaigns."
- Open the Perps Competition and opt in to it as well. Read its rules there, since "The rules you find about a campaign in MetaMask Mobile are the official source of truth."
- Fund perps and trade through MetaMask until 12 November, reaching the $10K minimum. In the June round, "If you trade directly on Hyperliquid or through another interface, those trades won't count."
Warning Leverage can wipe out your deposit. Don't trade more than you can lose for a shot at a contest prize.
- Check the leaderboard on the campaign page. In June, "Unrealized PnL from open trades will not count toward the leaderboard", so a winning position had to be closed to count. Assume the same until the rules say otherwise.
- Look at the Benefits tab for one-time offers. "You will need to connect MetaMask to the partner's website to claim the benefit", so use only the links inside the app.

MetaMask costs and fees
Joining Rewards shows no fee. The contest costs money because you have to trade. MetaMask lists "Taker fee : 0.1432%" and "Maker fee : 0.1144%", and says: "You pay a fee every time you open and close a position, along with a $1 withdrawal fee." By our arithmetic, $10,000 of taker volume costs about $14.32 in fees, whatever your leverage. Funding and network fees can come on top, and any trading losses are yours.
The rewards page adds: "Participants are responsible for all taxes, fees, and expenses associated with receiving and using rewards, such as gas fees and transaction costs."
MetaMask risks and eligibility
- Perps regions: "MetaMask Perps is available worldwide except in the US, the UK, Ontario (Canada), Belgium and countries on the US sanctions list."
- Rewards regions change by campaign. MetaMask says "eligibility for Rewards will vary based on campaign and benefit".
- We couldn't find full terms for this round. The published terms still show the June contest, which required age 18 or older, plus identity, sanctions and tax checks for winners. The end hour, the payout for each rank and whether $10K means leveraged volume aren't published outside the app.
- The prize is an "up to" figure. Earlier pools grew with volume: "The total prize pool scales with total trading volume reached during the campaign". MetaMask hasn't published a floor for this one.
- Perps offer up to 50x leverage, and ranking by realized PnL favours big, risky bets.
- Past activity is no guarantee: "Past participation in Season 1 or campaigns may or may not be considered for future incentives." An October 2025 release said "Points earned will carry over into future seasons", and no such season has followed.
- MetaMask's own pages lag behind, so trust dated posts and the app.
- Rewards doesn't cover every account: "Hardware wallet accounts are not supported yet." And "opting out will erase your progress".
Who is behind MetaMask?
The operator is "Consensys Software Inc., doing business as MetaMask". Joseph Lubin is chairman and chief executive of MetaMask. The company is splitting in two: MetaMask, and a new Consensys that takes Linea and the institutional business, led by Mike Kriak. MetaMask says: "Completion of the separation is expected by the end of 2026." We found no statement on how the split affects Rewards. TechCrunch reported in March 2022 that the parent company "announced a $450 million Series D round today that values the company at $7 billion".
