Is the Midnight airdrop claim open?
Yes. What is open now is redemption. People who claimed NIGHT in the Glacier Drop or the Scavenger Mine collect it through the Redemption Portal, which the Midnight Foundation announced as "officially live" on 10 December 2025. The tokens unlock in stages, which Midnight calls thawing.
Midnight's guide sets the timetable: "The thawing period will end on December 4, 2026. A final 90-day window (Grace Period) follows the end of thawing for any final claims before the portal closes." Midnight hasn't published the closing date itself. Ninety days after 4 December 2026 is 4 March 2027.
Redemptions were suspended on 28 June 2026 after a security incident at SecondFi, a Cardano wallet service, and resumed on 9 July 2026 at 17:00 UTC. The Foundation said: "This pause has not impacted the original Redemption schedule." On 14 September 2026 it reported that 2 billion NIGHT had been redeemed.
NIGHT is "the unshielded native and governance token of the Midnight Network", issued on Cardano with a total supply of 24 billion. Midnight describes itself as "a data protection blockchain platform".
Who can claim Midnight NIGHT?
Anyone who made a claim in one of the two earlier phases. The Glacier Drop ran from 5 August to 20 October 2025 and the Scavenger Mine from 30 October to 19 November 2025. Both are closed, so no new claims can be made there. The NIGHT goes to the destination address you gave when you claimed.
If you missed both, Midnight lists a third phase called Lost-and-Found, for self-custody holders of ADA, BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, BNB, AVAX and BAT "who did not make a Glacier Drop claim". Its page says the phase starts at the Midnight genesis block and stays available for 5 years, with about 252 million NIGHT. We found no official tool or instructions for claiming from it yet.
Midnight's distribution site sits behind a bot check, which stopped us from reading the portal's terms on 7 October 2026. Check them yourself for country restrictions before you redeem.
How to claim your Midnight NIGHT
- Get two things ready: the destination address you used when you claimed, and a Cardano wallet with enough ADA to pay the transaction fee.
- Open the Redemption Portal at redeem.midnight.gd and check the address in your browser.
Warning Midnight's guide says its only official accounts on X are @MidnightNtwrk and @midnightfdn, and tells users to "never click suspicious links". The Foundation adds that it "will never contact you privately to request sensitive information, ask for wallet access, or instruct you to transfer funds."
- Connect a Cardano wallet, or paste your destination address into the search field. Pasting it is enough to see your schedule.
- Read the dashboard. It shows your total allocation, your thaw schedule and the amount marked Redeemable now.
- If an amount is redeemable, click Redeem.
- Connect the wallet that will pay the fee. The guide says "the protocol allows any wallet to pay the fee for a redemption", and that the NIGHT "will always be sent to the correct Destination address."
- Authorize the transaction in your wallet and wait for it to confirm.

How the NIGHT thaw schedule works
Each allocation unlocks in four equal installments of 25%. The first date differs for everyone. The Foundation explained that "every Destination address is assigned a random first day between December 10, 2025, and early March 2026", and that the other three installments follow every 90 days. Your last installment therefore lands somewhere between early September and 4 December 2026, and the portal shows a countdown to your own dates.
You can let installments build up. A Midnight Foundation staff member wrote on the official forum that "you don't have to redeem at every thaw" and that the remaining NIGHT can be claimed later in the redemption window. Waiting until all four have thawed means paying the fee once, as long as you don't cut it close to the end of the grace period.
Midnight claim deadline
There are two dates to keep apart. Thawing ends on 4 December 2026, which is when the last installments unlock. The portal stays open after that for the 90-day grace period, which by our count runs to 4 March 2027.
Warning Midnight's guide doesn't say what happens to NIGHT that is still unredeemed when the portal closes. Don't count on a way to collect it afterwards, and redeem well before the grace period runs out.
Midnight claim costs and fees
Each redemption is a Cardano transaction, so the cost is a network fee paid in ADA. The guide asks for "a Cardano wallet with enough ADA to cover the transaction fees" and doesn't give an amount. The paying wallet doesn't have to be the one that receives the NIGHT.
If the Midnight portal shows an error
Users on Midnight's forum have reported failed redemptions in 2026, including a "Request failed with status code 400" message. Foundation staff there advise opening a support ticket through the chat on midnight.gd/faq, and not posting your wallet address in public.
Warning The same staff reply warns against third-party "wallet revalidation" apps that offer to fix a failed redemption. It says they aren't supported by Midnight and "are a common scam pattern".

This page explains how the claim works. It isn't financial advice. A real claim never asks for your recovery phrase or a payment up front, so compare the address in your browser with Midnight's official channels before you connect a wallet.
