Is the Sonic airdrop claim open?

Yes, but only until 15 October 2026, and only for people who already hold an airdrop position. Sonic Labs announced on 2 April 2026 that S still locked in Season 1 and Season 2 airdrop positions "will be burned on October 15, 2026 if not claimed before the deadline." At the time, about 32,690,000 S was still unclaimed.

Sonic is an EVM layer-1 blockchain and S is its native token. The airdrop minted 190,500,000 S in total, and Sonic's terms say it is facilitated by Sonic Operations Ltd. through Sonic Labs.

Warning Treat the end of 14 October as your deadline. Sonic's blog gives the date with no hour, and its own pages disagree: the burn tracker shows 00:00 UTC on 15 October, and the points page shows 12:00 GMT. After the deadline anyone can trigger the burn, and Sonic says the locked S is then "permanently burned".

Who can claim the Sonic airdrop now?

Holders of a Season 1 or Season 2 airdrop fNFT that still has locked S. The fNFT is the position that held the vesting 75% of each airdrop. The first 25% was paid out when you claimed.

If you never made that first claim, there is nothing left for you. That window closed in January 2026, and Sonic's burn tracker lists the unclaimed allocations burned on 18 January 2026.

The portal reads the wallet you connect. A wallet with no position sees "No fNFT allocation found for this season". Sonic's docs say the positions can be traded on the Airdrop Order Book run by PaintSwap, so the fNFT may no longer sit in the wallet that first received it.

How to claim the Sonic airdrop

  1. Open my.soniclabs.com/airdrop, the claim portal named in Sonic's blog post, and check the address in your browser.
  2. Connect the wallet that holds your airdrop fNFT.
  3. Open the Redemption tab. Each season has a card that shows your total allocation, the vesting progress and the claimable amount.
  4. Press the redeem button on the card and confirm the transaction in your wallet. You pay gas in S.

Warning Redeeming burns the fNFT, and the portal labels the amount you get as wS, the wrapped form of S, while Sonic's blog and docs call it S. Sonic hasn't said which of the two arrives, so check for both in your wallet afterwards.

  5. Repeat for the other season if you hold both.

Sonic claim penalty: is there still one?

No. Each airdrop paid 25% at once and vested the other 75% as an fNFT, with a penalty that burned part of the tokens if you redeemed early. Sonic's timeline says both seasons are past that point.

  • Season 1 claims have carried no penalty since 18 April 2026.
  • Season 2 claims have carried no penalty since 24 May 2026.

In the blog's words: "After each season reaches full unlock, the remaining allocation can be claimed in full with no penalty." You get the whole remaining amount in one transaction.

Sonic claim deadline and the burn

The deadline is 15 October 2026. Sonic's blog says that once it passes, "any amount still left locked will be permanently burned", and that the contract "allows anyone to trigger the burn of the remaining locked balance once the burn date is reached." Sonic doesn't have to decide anything for that to happen, and we found no announcement of an extension.

The claim portal repeats the point: holders who "do not claim before the deadline" will "lose their ability to claim."

Sonic claim costs and restrictions

Sonic describes no fee of its own for the claim. You pay the network's gas in S, and Sonic's terms leave any tax to you.

Those terms require you to be at least 18, and they bar anyone on a sanctions list, in an embargoed region, or "using VPNs or similar tools to bypass restrictions". Sonic's airdrop docs name the restricted countries the program "will likely need to exclude", among them Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Venezuela and Myanmar. In June 2025 Sonic said that residents of the United States are eligible.
